To study and practice well, we must grasp the core part of Buddhism. The core of Buddhism is very simple, with two words: wisdom and sorrow. Wisdom and compassion are the core of Mahayana Buddhism. Wisdom and compassion are the perfect combination of wisdom and compassion. What is the result of combining the two? If a person has equal compassion, from the bottom of his heart, he hopes that all living beings and all life can be happy from suffering, and at the same time has the wisdom and method to let all living beings be happy from suffering, then he can let all living beings in the world be happy from suffering. If a person has only wisdom but no compassion, he only considers his own liberation, and does not consider other beings, so there is no great significance; if a person has only compassion, but no wisdom, although his heart is very good, but his heart is weak, he does not know the way to let everyone go of pain and happiness, so it is not good. So wisdom and compassion are needed.
In the Huayan Sutra, we need to transcend and not separate from circulation. If we do not surpass the circulation, then all people are wandering in the circulation, and no one can save anyone. So first of all, we must surpass the circulation, and surpass and never leave the circulation. "Do not leave" means that after surpassing, although we have not suffered from birth, old age, death and other pain, but this does not solve the problem. We should tell more people the way to surpass the circulation, not that I will go to the paradise and other places to stay after surpassing the circulation. After surpassing the circulation, we should return to the circulation and let more people surpass. This is our goal, which is called Beyond circulation, but not from circulation.
Because of wisdom, we can transcend the flow; because of compassion, we can not leave the flow. If a person does not have compassion, he will leave the circulation after surpassing the circulation, and will never come back to save other beings; if a person does not have wisdom, he will not be able to surpass the circulation, and he will not be able to help other beings. So Buddhism is wisdom and compassion. We learn Buddhism is wisdom and compassion. Buddhism does not teach us to escape from reality, because no life can surpass birth, old age and death. Buddhism tells us how to face the reality and face life, old and death bravely.
We face the reality, accept the reality, and then break through and surpass the circulation. After we succeed in surpassing, we should tell more people around us the methods and experience of our surpassing circulation so that they can also surpass. Then, when they succeed, they can tell more people. One to ten, ten to one Finally, we all know how to face the reality, how to break through and how to surpass. This is the Dharma of all living beings.
The Buddhist saying of compassion, as the saying goes, is to love and love all living beings. Love can be divided into big love and small love. Small love does not need to be cultivated. Everyone is born with it, including animals. Great love is not only absent from animals, but also rare from humans. But it can be cultivated and trained. Great love is the compassion of Buddhism. After we learn compassion, cultivate compassion, and cultivate compassion, we can share compassion. Similarly, we can learn Buddha's wisdom, cultivate wisdom, and improve our level of wisdom. After our attitude toward life and life changes, we can share this realm with friends, colleagues, and classmates.
There are a lot of miserable people who need mental help now. In the past, people especially needed material help. Now, although many people also need it, there is a new poor group, that is, people who are extremely poor in spirit. They need help especially. In the past, when we felt that there was no money, it was called poverty, and then we used materials to help the poor. The new poor may be very rich, but they are poor in the spiritual field. Man is a combination of spirit and body, so there are two areas of human life, one is to meet the needs of the body with material, the other is to meet the needs of the spiritual field. Before that, we completely ignored spiritual satisfaction and only cared about unilateral material satisfaction, which is what we call wealth and poverty. When we finally solved the material poverty, we found that there was another kind of poverty, that is, poverty in the spiritual field: emptiness, anxiety, loneliness, depression, etc.
When we are short of material, we will suffer. Similarly, the lack of spiritual field will make us suffer as well. Sometimes, this kind of pain even exceeds that of material shortage. No matter who you are, you are likely to face the pain of mental deficiency.
